About the
Black Coating
The black colour on these rings is a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating applied to the surface of the tungsten carbide band. The underlying tungsten carbide is extremely scratch and tarnish resistant — but the black coating itself will gradually wear, scratch, and fade over time with everyday use.
Over time the black finish may show signs of wear, particularly on edges and high-contact areas. This is completely normal and is not a fault with the ring. The tungsten carbide beneath remains intact and the ring itself will not break or deteriorate.
